TOOLS

Spot Tools

The following are a few illumination tips and explanatory notes:

  • DISTANCE (mt, ft) refers to the length between the light source and the point where a given measurement is to be made.
  • DIAMETER (mt, ft) and AREA (mt2, sqft) refers to the projection of the light beam obtained at the reference distance.
  • ANGLE (°gradi, °deg.) refers to the angle of the beam spread or light cone.
  • FLUX (Lumen) refers to the light quantity going through the projection cone (hence, this does not depend on the distance, but it is uniformly "transmitted" along the whole beam.
  • ILLUMINATION (Lux, FC or FootCandles) refers to the light intensity measured at the central point of the projection at the reference distance.

Tool nr. 1: How can I get Illumination and Flux from a measurement?
At distance "D1" it is given the illumination value "I1".
At distance "D2", which illumination value (I2) will be obtained?
And what will the flow (CD) be?
Calculate in metric system  Calculate in imperial system

Tool nr. 2: How can I get Illumination from Flux?
It is the given flow. At distance "D1", which illumination value (I1) will be obtained?
Calculate in metric system  Calculate in imperial system

Tool nr. 3: How can I convert a Distance value?
Conversion of a distance measurement "D" from the metric system "mt" into imperial "ft", and vice versa
Calculate

Tool nr. 4: How can I convert an Illumination value?
Conversion of an illumination measurement "I" from the metric system "Lux" into imperial "Fc", and vice versa.
Calculate

Tool nr. 5: What is the size of the projection?
It is the given angle "ANG" of the light beam spread and the Distance "D1" where measurement must be taken. What will be the diameter of the projection obtained and the resulting illuminated area?
Calculate

Tool nr. 6: What is the objective (zoom spread) I need?
It is the given diameter "DIAM" of the light projection, measured at distance "D1". Which is the required angle of the beam aperture (ANG) and what will be the resulting illuminated Area?
Calculate
